About this deal

There are several ProtectiveClean brushes, but all have similar specifications. Unlike the DiamondClean, toothbrushes in the ProtectiveClean range have a pressure sensor, and will warn you if you're applying too much force when you brush. This is great for anyone who tends to be a bit heavy-handed, and has been warned that they're at risk of damaging their enamel. The motion and speed is adjusted to really massage the teeth and gum tissues and push the cleaning motion through bacteria and stubborn stains that may exist Triple tone of high-med-low means the EasyStart feature has been deactivated. The brush head replacement light and battery light will also blink amber 3 times in unison to confirm deactivation

The brush head also tells the toothbrush which mode to select: using a gum care brush head will select the optimal mode, although you can always override the setting. For example, on some models, you have ‘White’ as a cleaning mode, whilst on others, it is labelled as ‘White+’. They are the same mode, just with a different name as far as I understand. However, we should note that this probably won’t last very long, especially if you don’t fully wash away all the toothpaste from the toothbrush after use. After a few weeks of allowing remnants of toothpaste to remain on the handle, our beautiful handle was soiled in white stains that we cannot scrub off for love nor money. This can be easily avoided, however, by simply giving it a good rinse after use. The 4300 comes with 1 x C2 Optimal Plaque Defence brush head compared to the 1 x G2 Optimal Gum Health & 1 x W2 Optimal White brush head with the 5100 (White & Light Blue variant HX6859/17 comes with just 1 x G2 Optimal Gum Health) . It should be noted that some Sonicare models have the option to change the intensity of the brushing motion. The 6100 has 3 cleaning mode intensities (Low, Medium and High) compared to the 2 intensities (Low and High) of the 4300. Why the new or different names for the same mode? Your guess is as good as mine! Which modes should you opt for?

All Sonicare DailyClean brushes are supplied with one brush head and last up to two weeks on a single charge, but only the DailyClean 3100 has a light to indicate the current battery status, which is a very useful feature. The 1100 and 1200 may be cheaper, but we think it's worth paying a little extra for the battery indicator so your brush doesn't run flat. A useful mode to also use fairly regularly to give your gums a little extra attention and keep them in good shape. As with most sonic toothbrushes, this model is very quiet, at just 71.2dB. That’s loud enough that you can hear it, but the high-pitched buzz isn’t distracting or annoying. Why buy the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100? The 6 sections of 20 seconds intervals still result in the same brushing time (2 minutes). It is just a slightly different approach. As we understand it, they are essentially the same thing. 1 brush stroke is equal to 2 movements. (31,000 x 2 = 62,000). You should be aware that if you are using a Sonicare toothbrush that has BrushSync technology depending on which brush head is fitted, the brush will automatically select the ‘best’ mode unless overridden by you as the user. Sonicare brushes are labelled with the cleaning modes they have From my very own hands-on testing, it is clear that the ‘power’ of the brush differs, depending on what mode you have selected.

The chart summarises the information provided above and you can see which models of toothbrush offer which cleaning mode. An explanation of power delivery: the number of brush strokes and movements Yes, as strange as this might sound in reality there is little actual need for all of these extra modes. These significant discounts make the products look more appealing to you and I as consumers, hence we believe we are getting a deal. Now what you feel this brush is actually worth may differ and I will say that personally I do not think this is the best value for money you can get of an electric toothbrush today.Triple tone of high-med-low means the pressure sensor feature has been deactivated. The brush head replacement light and battery light will also blink amber 3 times in unison to confirm deactivation. Each of these extra cleaning modes does offer something different and can potentially have benefit for you. But, don’t strive to buy a brush that might be outside of your budget, just because it has White mode for example. Philips Sonicare themselves seem to alter the description and explanation behind each cleaning mode, depending on what documentation or user manual you are reading. Sonicare have implemented this slightly differently on some models. They have set the pacer at 20 second intervals. Ideal to use when you want to spend a bit of extra time on your teeth and really make sure you are doing the best you can to keep them clean and healthy.
