Flawed Characters You Will Learn to Appreciate (Updated Review after Finale) Most dramas start off with the notion of a perfect lead, with a personality and qualities that the viewers can admire. Well, not this truly underrated show. OST: I keep looping it and how the narration really fits this story of growth….not able to FF the opening song and ending song each time.... The show scored points with dynamic realistic characters who were shades of gray, who at times struggled with their actions and made bad decisions in the heat of the moment. Depending on whose viewpoints, it was not always clear if they were doing the right thing or what the right thing even is. In the Mv songs…”When the world did not give me a good start”…That’s how our Leads childhood stories begin…both are orphans victims of natural disaster….and grew up taking different paths to patch their traumas….One savvy successful cunning lawyer and one smart, cautious cold doctor who close herself to outside world….As their not so great start begin, it took many twists and turn before they got together and when they did…one big revelations during their childhood trauma is unravelled (a huge surprise) that lead to their love struggle…..one that need a huge courage to overcome….

As the show moved forward, it also built the viewers’ empathy for our two leads. The more we find out why they were the way they were, the more we understood them including their arrogance and aloofness that put us off at first. Still, many viewers would find both characters frustrating at different points of the story, especially in their interactions with their families and with each other.LCR showed a dozen + amazing rescue scenes. My favs are the earthquake, mudslide, and cave, some channeling Hollywood production…. Finale Glacier rescue is Epic, movie texture quality and cinematography and one that I did not think C Drama is capable of making such a harrowing scenes… Zahed, Ramin (2019-06-10). "GKIDS Charms China's White Snake for N. America". Animation Magazine . Retrieved 10 June 2019. I did not expect to love this book as much as I did, and this little novella definitely stands out as a happy surprise of 2021. The cover is pretty generic, and in fact I almost decided not to read it for that reason, but thank goodness that didn't happen, because the story inside is emotional and full of wondrous world building. This is my first time reading both authors, and I’ll definitely be seeking out more of their work in the future.

With the studio’s fourth film an unqualified success, Zhao notes that more than just diligence and patience were needed to make a good film. “Light Chaser’s first three films mainly targeted the family audience,” the director contends. “ White Snake is our first film that targets a young adult audience. Our first three films helped us build a great team and a solid production pipeline. But even more importantly, a key lesson we learned making those movies is how to choose what kind of story we should develop. Before starting White Snake, we were very clear about our strategy that the film will have strong emotions and appeal mainly to a young adult audience.” Their third feature film, Cats and Peachtopia, was released in China on April 5, 2018. In the United States, Viva Pictures released the movie as "Cats" on DirecTV Pay-per-view in late 2019, and distributed the movie theatrically on January 24, 2020. [7]

New in Series

One of the show's strongest points is the way it executed the stunts, the rescue scenes and the cinematography. The camerawork created the realism that drew me in completely and I cannot help but be immersed in the moments. It was indeed an emotional roller coaster ride with the different types of rescues and most had me watching with trepidation!

Light Chaser spent three years making the film, half in development and pre-production. “Since White Snake is a traditional Chinese story, we aimed to embrace and reflect on classical Chinese aesthetics in art design and animation,” Zhao describes. “We also embedded some contemporary elements, for example, in character design, to make the film more appealing to young audiences.” Two things could have made up for this: the characters and the chance to explore. Well, I didn't like Amahle and she's the only character of any significance, so there went that. My biggest issue with her was that, for all she's (almost) immortal, she behaves just like any-old human today (with an emphasis on 'today'). Likewise, the worlds described are surprisingly uncreative for a science fiction novella. They're analogs of either medieval, early industrial, or early modern Earth, with a lot of cultural references to the current day. Odd, considering that we're talking 26,000 years in the future. And yes, to some extent, this is part of the plot, but the authors could have tried just a bit harder.

Top Contributors

Light Chaser', a collaborative writing effort by veteran authors Peter Hamilton and Gareth Powell, is a very cool hard-science-fiction novella about a traveler of space in the year 28367! Child, Ben (November 29, 2012). "China will be the world's biggest film market by 2020". The Guardian.

The story starts at the end (often used feature in modern SF, which I know annoys some readers) with a couple in a spaceship, Amahle and Carloman, who prepared to die, even if the man says “There is nothing to fear. Trust me, I remember all my deaths.” The ship hits a star, but before vaporizing, it left a ‘strangelet’ that turns the star supernova, annihilating all around it. I am a regular reader of Peter Hamilton (the concept of an immortal wanderer turning a thousand-year sojourn through a range of worlds into a shag-fest is definitely his idea), but I have yet to read Gareth Powell. Happily, I have an arc of ‘Stars & Bones’ that will allow me to remedy that shortly.Light Chaser's second feature film, Tea Pets, was released in China on July 21, 2017. In the United States, Vision Films distributed the movie as "Toys & Pets". An airline safety video was made for Hainan Airlines starring this film's characters. [6] Luo Ben bears witness to the people's sense of camaraderie in the face of adversity and becomes deeply inspired by the volunteer efforts. Luo Ben along with Zhou Min Ming and Ding Ding Ding join as the new recruits to the team. They survive Captain Qing Shan's "training from hell" and put their lives on the line in every rescue and disaster relief operation that pits them against earthquakes, fires, floods and typhoons. At the end of the day, though they finally grow into an elite rescue unit, will love find them in the most inhospitable of situations? Creatively, capturing and transferring traditional Chinese artistic styles into CG animation proved especially challenging for Zhao’s team. According to the director, “This is a pioneering project, so we put tremendous effort into both set design – like the Chinese-painting-like mountains and rivers - and character design. That includes, for example, the multiple-layer traditional Chinese clothes, ancient young ladies’ hair styles and movements.”
