Along with having the two sisters of colour being a) adopted by a random white millionaire and seemingly be stolen from their native countries, and b) be the bolshy “problematic” ones painted in a more negative light than the white sisters, I felt a bit uncomfortable. Just jumping in to say I had The Seven Sisters as both a paper copy and listened on audio, and yes I found Floriano creepy too! I know Kreeg's dad, Cronus, was a language teacher, but it's mentioned that Kreeg didn't show much interest in his language lessons so I would find it very weird that Atlas would address him in French. Pa Salt was at least a billionaire I'm guessing, given the size of his boat, and the amount he invested in Atlantis. An ongoing mystery runs throughout all the books – why did Pa Salt never adopt and bring home his planned seventh daughter?

Because the sisters are from all over the world and also because we skipped a few generations and went to Izabela’s great grand-mother just to have a story around Cristo Redentor and not her mother or grandmother. The way his back story was threaded together, covering the previous 7 books was both a good refresher about the sisters' pasts, and an impressive way of solving some unanswered questions. I guess since Brangelina made adopting from 3rd world countries chic that's what single white billionaires who live on an island in Switzerland do these days. Beide Handlungsstränge - einmal die Geschichte um Maia, die im Jahr 2007 spielt, und dann die Geschichte um Izabela aus dem Jahr 1927 - haben mir sehr gut gefallen. She is happy and secure in her home in the Lake District, living close to her idol, Beatrix Potter, when machinations outside of her control lead her to London, and the home of one of Edwardian society's most notorious players, Alice Keppel. As the eldest, Maia’s clue takes her to Rio Janeiro where she begins to put together her family’s story.

The series begins with The Seven Sisters, read by Tuppence Middleton and ends with Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt, an unforgettable conclusion wonderfully narrated by Richard Armitage. Her decision alters her future irrevocably when Chilly, an ancient gipsy who has lived for years on the estate, tells her that not only does she possess a sixth sense, passed down from her ancestors, but it was foretold long ago that he would be the one to send her back home to Granada in Spain . It's a simple story of seven adopted sister's finding out who and where they come from as their rich adoptive father has passed and left them each an envelope with a letter and some coordinates. But with her life now turned upside down, Ally decides to leave the open seas and follow the trail that her father left her, which leads her to the icy beauty of Norway . Having said all of that, I enjoyed it enough to read The Storm Sister this month and I'm totally on board with reading the whole series now, albeit with a wee break between each one I think. Her books have been translated into thirty-seven languages and sold thirty million copies worldwide. There, Ally begins to discover her roots – and how her story is inextricably bound to that of a young unknown singer, Anna Landvik, who lived there over a hundred years before, and sang in the first performance of Grieg's iconic music set to Ibsen's play 'Peer Gynt'. A bachelor, a middle-aged man, adopts six young girls, brings them here to Switzerland to raise and educate them under one roof. I get that wasn't a new concept to the series, but it never seemed central to the plot and I'm disappointed it was the answer to the biggest part of the whole mystery. Rest assured that in spring 2023, the whole world will know just who Pa Salt is and why he adopted the sisters.

And above all, the one gift that is more important than any other, and has kept us humans alive throughout unbearable suffering: HOPE.Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. It didn’t seem nearly as polished, tight, or crisp as the others and it was not as skillfully self-contained as the earlier novels.

Besonders toll fand ich wie die Autorin uns die Orte beschreibt in denen dieses Buch spielt, allen voran Brasilien 🇧🇷 ich hatte direkt alles bildlich vor Augen obwohl ich selbst noch nie in Brasilien war. As those around her fear for her health, Electra receives a letter from a complete stranger who claims to be her grandmother . After the death of her father – Pa Salt, an elusive billionaire who adopted his six daughters from around the globe – Tiggy D’Aplièse , trusting her instincts, moves to the remote wilds of Scotland. From the Scottish Highlands and Spain, to South America and New York, Tiggy follows the trail back to her own exotic but complex past. This kind of retrofitting felt so sloppy and forced that my knee-jerk reaction was to sympathize with Gustavo the rest of the story and despise Izabela and Laurent. The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley was an excellent historical novel, the first in a series of books about six young women who had all been adopted as babies and brought up as sisters. Sadly, at the end of the book, I forgot this was a fictional story, and I'm still in belief with the story of Izabel and Christ the Redeemer's statue, since the author made her story so very convincing enough to fall for the trap. However, I am happy that I managed to get through the first part to get to the historic part, because it was definitely better. Particularly the way that six people from his past (who each happened to have incredible stories worthy of their own books) just happened to have ancestors in need of adoption is insanely unlikely and was my biggest question.
