About this deal

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Glenury Royal has been carefully crafted by Master Blender Jim Beveridge and his small team of expert whisky makers using eight handpicked whiskies from the four corners of Scotland, including three irreplaceable “ghost” whiskies. Each release offer a fleeting opportunity to savour the depth of character of whiskies from 'ghost' distilleries that have long since closed, but whose spirit still lives on in the precious liquid captured in every bottle. Glenury Royal was closed in 1985 during the 'whisky loch', a crisis caused by the gross over-estimation of demand in the 1970s. Two additional lost distilleries are also included in the blend – grain whisky from Cambus and single malt from Pittyvaich – alongside five ‘rare’ expressions from the existing distilleries of Cameronbridge, Clynelish, Glenkinchie, Glenlossie and Royal Lochnagar.

The result is a whisky with smooth, nutty layers of dark chocolate, waves of vanilla, heather honey and dried fruits and underlying notes of creamy toffee and butterscotch - all perfectly balanced by the rich, fruity, sweet apple and delicate apricot character of Glenury Royal. Glenury Royal gives this whisky notes of sumptuous orchard fruits, sweet apple and delicate apricot.Alongside the distinctive autumnal character from Pittyvaich whiskies, the sweet and fruit notes of fresh apple beautifully balanced with the delicate subtle sweetness of honeycomb and soft wood from the “ghost” whiskies of Port Dundas and Carsebridge.

Over the course of the early 1900s, John Walker’s grandsons, Alexander Walker II and George Walker, established the colour-based naming system.

Other very rare whiskies bring aromas of dark fruit and berries before revealing gentle butterscotch, stewing orchard fruits and a dash of cinnamon. If you know Chivas Regal 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky, you’ll know it’s more than a scotch whisky – it’s a blend. Exceptionally balanced with layers of creamy vanilla sweetness on the nose, rolling waves of waxy citrus, rich malt and tropical fruit flavours on the palate, and the unmistakable lingering finish of Port Ellen maritime smokiness. Information and statements about products are not intended to be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. They mixed whiskies from five famous regions in Scotland—Islay, Speyside, Campbeltown, Highlands, and Lowlands.
