I love that she’s not afraid to talk about the harder things with pregnancy and new borns, and I wish I’d read this book before I’d had my child, it’s the most useful book on parenting I’ve read! If you really want to be entertained this is the perfect book for you - just be mindful you will be laughing out loud, so may not want to read this book on the train! That’s not to say Ellie regrets her choice, and she isn’t worried that her daughter, now a tantrumming toddler, might in future feel hurt by her book’s revelations. Nursery means I can sit in a café or go for a run or go to a meeting or do some writing or record something silly or do anything I bloody well want because I DON’T HAVE TO LOOK AFTER MY OWN CHILD. My Child and Other Mistakes is the honest lowdown on Motherhood and all its grisly delights, asking the questions no one wants to admit to asking themselves - do I want a child? I've been wanting to get into reading again for a few years now but been struggling to find a book I'd enjoy. The author also points out in the introduction that having children is something that happens to people every hour of everyday making truly unexceptional, except, of course, to every parent it feels exceptional. Will be interesting to see if she does have another baby or another book - would like to hear more about how she manages the toddler phase. Despite of not having children or not even ever being pregnant, I somehow was drawn to it and decided to give it a go.

This is an absolutely amazing book, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is pregnant or just given birth. I’ve laughed out loud, cried and mentally screamed, “Yes, I knew I couldn’t be the only one who thought/felt like that! From an evolutionary point of view, humans leaving vulnerable infants in strange locations with strange people is surely anything but normal? And her voice was so clear throughout the book, never getting lost to ‘I am writing a book I must sound formal and knowledgeable’. Well, because I am mother to a 5 month old and am currently at the stage of craving anything that makes me feel ‘seen’.The top 10 films are then viewed by an independent judging panel of top television and film industry professionals who will choose one overall winner and two runners up. The place is colourful and chaotic, full of lefty parents keen to sign permission slips for their child to partake in activities like yoga and Mandarin classes. As a cis white woman married to a cis white man who were fortunate to conceive naturally, my account of parenthood is undoubtedly limited by my many privileges.

But the book isn't 'worthy', it's a personal account where Ellie wants to encourage people to be ok with whatever choices are right for them, including whether not to have a child at all - and with some of the stories Ellie tells it might encourage them down that route!

What’s more, Taylor also draw attention to Black, Asian, Latinx, and POC maternal mortality rates compared to those experienced by White people. All the parenting my husband and I had done up until that point was about making our daughter feel loved and safe. What I didn't expect was how honest and open it was about areas of motherhood we rarely discuss, the early newborn stage, the post C-section aftermath etc. Full of brilliantly written, hilarious stories that remind you of how universal the wonder and horror of first time motherhood is.

Now at least, when I walk past a pregnant woman I can just hand her this book rather than my standard reaction – embracing her tightly as I whisper in her ear. Her performance is excellent and I’d wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone who’s either expecting a child or has children! As the front-woman of Blondie, she and the band forged a new sound that brought together the worlds of rock, punk, disco, reggae and hip-hop to create some of the most beloved pop songs of all time. In the last eighteen months, I’ve had a lovely amount of success on the comedy film festival circuit, with a lot of attention from the industry.Trying to make up for lost time, I began to look at places for my unborn child when I was seven months pregnant. Her work included campaigns for Matalan dressing gowns, Asda bras, Pantene shampoo and a brand of greek yogurt. The film must be an original narrative created, produced and devised by a woman, or women, although male cast and crew members are allowed. Yes, millions of people like me around the world put their small kids in daycare because we have no other choice but to any of us, do their tears of separation feel normal? Finally, someone who has the balls to pen all of those feelings I’ve had for years but always felt too guilty and ashamed to admit to!
