About this deal

I think writing has been a sort of quiet thing I've kept on the side - I have always written since I was a child, and I was told that I was quite good at it. This is a novel with so much warmth and humour that I just wanted to wrap myself up in it to be quite honest!

FIRST EDITION 1980, thin 8vo, 205 x 150 mm, 8 x 6 inches, unpaginated, 24 pages, every page has a coloured illustration by Joe Wright, original publisher's coloured pictorial glazed boards with black lettering, pale brown endpapers. Toby Track is their little boy and he is exceptionally good at jumping onto stolen trains and rescuing them from crooks! I still thought, up until about half an hour ago, I'll still go with the noodles because they are both pretty carby and really should be avoided, full stop. Whether you're afraid that anxiety is controlling your child's life, struggling with getting your child out of a low mood cycle, or you just want support on how to communicate with them, this book is here to help.

Amber Hatch, author of Mindfulness for Parents The must-have, family handbook that deserves to be well thumbed and underlined. My tip would be, if you have a tin of paint , go and paint a wall, get yourself a chair and sit and watch the paint dry. Throughout the story, we witness interactions between Amy, Ah Goong and her extended family whilst they work and live near the takeaway that is not only their livelihood but their heritage.

Filled with invaluable tools, quick-fire exercises, case studies and additional worksheets, Happy Families has everything you need to protect and support your child's mental health. I really liked all the characters throughout even though it sometimes take a minute to remember who is who. Saturdays are out of the question when you work in the takeaway profession so in my childhood there weren't so many Saturday excursions or anything with my parents.

Why Amy has left her job, and why Ah Goong and Amy's father TC Li haven't spoken to each other in 30 years, are two of the main secrets the story centres around. But then they hear news that all small schools must close, so Mr Tick starts teaching some rather unusual lessons - in how to trick stern school inspectors. An entertaining, fun read about three generations of a Chinese family who run a takeaway in a small town in Wales. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF.
