The handheld version is more irregular, being almost 3 modules long, with a cutout on the bottom and a bar jutting out. Sure, in terms of new parts and recolors it doesn't have a ton to offer, but it might be one of my favorite ninja bases yet in how well it blends the more modern/sci-fi tech side of the theme with the sort of traditional Japan-inspired architecture that the theme is also great with. Includes 8 LEGO NINJAGO minifigures: Lloyd, Kai, Cole, Nya, Pixal and Master Wu, plus the snake warriors Boa Destructor and Cobra Mechanic. We have plenty of weapon storage around, which seems appropriate, and a small shrine to Sensei Wu, which seems to be less so since he’s still very much around. The washroom is in the center of the first floor, and the rest of the groundwork goes in next, extending the dojo to its full width.Such factors as a child's developmental skill set and toy popularity help determine the enjoyment levels of a product. This is clearly evident in how the set uses multiple small plates instead of using a traditional baseplate. The stairs leading up to the main door use some SNOT techniques combined with hinges layered atop tiles for some fun, unorthodox angles. In terms of parts, it isn’t particularly groundbreaking - again, the best bits come from the EVO-based mech - but that has its merits: the designer created a compelling and great looking set without using a lot of new elements that would make me want to dismantle it for MOC .

The individual rooms each have a strong play theme, with easy access to the spaces from the dojo’s open back. Boa Destructor comes with gauntlets and shoulder armor, while the Cobra Mechanic has a backpack-mounted armature with two drills.Come along as we take a close look at this new headquarters…and see if we can’t spot some hints as to where the ninjas might be headed next! Pixal is the standout, though, with her base figure made of entirely new prints and a new silver hairpiece.
