Description

Photographers have long known about the benefits of RAW for stills, now Nikon Z series users will be able to get the same power of RAW in video. It allows you to segment/split long recordings into user-defined chunks, adding even more flexibility to the production workflow. With SegmentPro you can fit your files into any workflow – even those that require smaller media (for example, if you are going to edit on an iPad).

Ninja also allows you to record HDMI RAW inputs up to 6K at 30fps while simultaneously looping out standard YCC video via HDMI to non-RAW compatible devices. For more information on the new features, improvements and known limitations, refer to the release notes for AtomOS 10.

Smaller than conventional SATA SSDs they are an affordable professional alternative to recording to a camera’s internal memory cards. Each feature provides a fresh way to use the NINJA V/V+ to perfect each shot or explore new ways to make films. Atomos has announced a completely free means of remotely controlling their Ninja V, and Ninja V+ field monitors and released a new firmware update to control fan speed. and above will be the only method to get updates for future ProRes RAW compatible cameras and general bug fixes.

Capturing Apple ProRes RAW video with the Ninja V over HDMI unlocks complete control of the video image at the highest quality possible. The NDI TX option turns your Connect-enabled Ninja into an NDI source, visible to all other authorized devices on the network. The screen is designed for outdoor usability, with a generous 1000nits, viewable even in direct sunlight. It’s quite scary taking a perfectly good T5 drive apart but I like this more compact solution and so far it has been working reliably. Please consult the Quick Start Guide (QSG) included in the box with the AtomX CAST for details on how to connect the device.Use the Ninja’s screen for accurate visual alignment and its massive removable storage for longer projects. Starting with the Nikon Z6 and Z7, with other cameras being added soon, users can experience RAW video to get the maximum dynamic range, colour accuracy and detail. The other option is via the DC power supply lockable jack, letting you connect to an international power plug, a great option if you are working in a studio setup, with very little movement.

On the back is a battery slot for Sony NPF batteries and a slot for mounting SSD’s using bespoke Atomos Caddies. If switching between different camera models whilst HDMI Compatibility mode is selected, ensure that you reboot the Ninja V before connecting a new camera. False colour – Both devices have the False Colour feature but again the Shinobi seems higher resolution with finer edge detail than the Ninja.
