They fake date to piss off Scott, then that just goes nowhere, then they date but don't date at the same time (I can safely say that situationships and romance books should never go together) then they break up despite not dating whilst dating and then some friendship drama happens and BOOM! I will say that one thing I hate is the miscommunication trope and this book is all about it, which is the only reason I gave it four stars. And allowing the scene that takes place at the pizza restaurant to happen in front of Bailey with zero warning, was shitty. I could have done with a little bit less of Charlie being a complete ass and trying to ignore his feelings, but I liked the way things worked out in the end.

over the span of three years, they saw each other once or twice until one day they end up working at the same waterpark. for someone who is literally constantly looking for even one comfort read in this cold, cold world, and for someone who constantly hates all of them, this was huge.

His voice was a little crackly when he said, “I looked up, thought, Damn, she’s pretty, and then I was like, Oh, holy shit, it’s the whackjob from the plane but with normal hair. it took me a long time to warm up to him, and i can say he is my least favorite love interest in any of lynn painter’s books so far. this book was nice, in the sense that they didn't have sex and i don't have to burn my eyes, but i think the lesson to take from this are that cute little moments, banter, or sex won't make up for plot-holes and character issues. They didn’t get off to the best start but this is a new beginning and whilst they are still polar opposites, she starts to look forward to hanging out and gossiping about the waterpark guests and their coworkers—particularly two who keep flirting with each other.

spoiler* For real though, if someone was going to give me their pet that they loved more than almost anything, just to prove to me that they would never leave me. So I thought if I gave you my cat, it would be this big gesture because you know how much I love him.

I know I’ve sounded super down on this, but there were times I thought Charlie and Bailey had such cute interactions and were really great for each other.

oh my gawwwwwwd it's like a child was just taught what a swear word is and was told to never use it and then used it 5000 times in every breath. okay so looking back at this i never mentioned the crying in my actual review because i'm NOT joking it was pathetic. Bailey met Charlie a year ago on the long flight to Omaha, where she moved after her parents’ divorce. By the second chapter I was pretty hooked because the internal dialogue and verbal exchanges between the characters was pretty realistic and often hysterical, in my opinion. And are we seriously going to just ignore him saying that IT'S TOTALLY FINE THAT HE SAW HER WHILE SHE WAS WEARING JUST A SHIRT WITH NO UNDERWEAR OR ANYTHING BECAUSE HE HAS A DAUGHTER HER AGE?

from the nickname prince charles gave her to how every character self-sabotaged their own relationships (and then acted like victims), betting on you was a miss for me. Charlie took a minute to grow on me, but I think our main female character felt the same way about him. her internal conflict with her parents’ divorce and her mom’s new boyfriend were well done and i liked how everything wrapped up in that regard.
