About this deal

We tried using these headphones on an Android phone instead of through our usual headphone amp and noticed that they lacked a lot of bass. Of course, as it always is with these things: this is merely a suggestion and a starting point, not the ultimate settings you should set and forget. They're not the most premium-looking, but they're built like tanks, and they use a good mix of metal and really sturdy plastic elements. It's worth noting, however, that Beyerdynamic currently produces three variants of this model: 32-, 80- and 250-ohm variants.

In addition to studio applications, the DT 770 Pro 80’s frequency response is also ideal for simply listening to music, which makes it a great choice as a hi-fi headset. Typical for a dynamic headphone from the nineties, the driver will distort once it goes into high excursion due to low frequency content or high SPL. The Beyerdynamic 770 PRO are tight enough on the head that they won't fall during casual listening sessions unless the non-detachable cable gets hooked on something. If Beyerdynamic could step up to have a detachable cable for these bad boys, that would be more than amazing. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, like the Beyerdynamic DT 880 and Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO, aren't portable headphones. The DT 770 PRO headphones is the range’s closed-back model and offers maximum flexibility and detailed sound that you can rely on.

However, the Beyerdynamic can be a viable option for gamers who don't need a mic, while the Astro are also a decent choice for mixing podcasts or live streams. You get a big hard case and an extra straight detachable cable with the DT 1770, but that's about it.We don’t do any stress tests and very few models are used for longer than a couple of days, so this is a fairly subjective score. However, they achieve a decent level of noise reduction in the mid-range and a great reduction in the treble range. The only thing I really noticed was that after EQ'ing, there's a bit of a dip at around 4KHz making the presence region a tiny bit lacking in presence, but this was very subtle. Casual listeners at the computer who need a super-comfortable set of closed-back headphones, or users with glasses will also find a good option in the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO (80Ω).
