They know their eggs so well when it comes to delivering great pop hooks and lyrics that are witty, barmy, and which occasionally touch a chord. After all, that’s pretty much the only reason that Half Way There exists; it doesn’t push Busted forward as a band (something that Night Driver did), and it doesn’t add anything at all to the genre conversation, but as far as digging up note-perfect relics from the 2000s goes, it works like gangbusters. Much like All Saints‘ most recent album ‘Testament’, it’s a band fully at home singing and playing on the sound everyone loves them for, and in a round about way, actually makes for a refreshingly honest and very modern pop album.

We loved it, but I think for a fan wanting to hear Busted again, people had to readjust their mind as to what they were hearing. Elsewhere on the album Reunion is a peppy beat-driven moment, Shipwrecked in Atlantis is a pure pop-rock rush, and MIA is the kind of track that will fill an arena live while fans hold up their phone lights and sway along. Where once Busted would be singing about fancying their school teacher in ‘ What I Go to School For’, now they’re heading back to school 10 years later in ‘ Reunion’, an upbeat record with plenty of punchy guitar riffs that hones in on the idea of catching up with old friends. Race to Mars and Reunion tap into the expected Busted hymnbook by offering familiar glimpses alas 2003’s A Present for Everyone, but with a rejuvenated vigour that sits comfortably among the very best of 2019’s pop punk royalty. These are child-friendly songs that talk about how great the band’s childhood was; reaching for their dreams; and getting that girl. It’s a super alienating song that only a few people in bands will relate to I guess, and even then not many. But yeah, I'd never thought I'd see the day when a Busted album is heavier than a Bring Me The Horizon album. The new record saw them work with their dream producer Gil Norton, who has previously worked with the likes of Foo Fighters and Pixies.

It was followed up by 2003’s ‘A Present For Everyone’, which was the last record they released prior to their 2005 split. Since then, I feel they have all had success and Charlie has more than proved himself as a capable musician, gaining top 20 albums across multiple genres (Fightstar, solo-works). The band, made up of James Bourne, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis, have been working on their upcoming album for the last year and had one simple goal in mind – to make the ultimate Busted album! All my friends’ is another weird one, both optimistic but sneering and doesn’t reflect really well on any of the singers.James Bourne, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis approached the new album with a simple goal in mind: “How do we make the ultimate Busted album? In 2005 the band went their separate ways when Charlie Simpson decided to leave and pursued their own projects until Matt Willis and James Bourne joined forces with McFly to make supergroup McBusted in 2013. AltCorner was built to serve as tbe promotional platform for alternative music - documenting everything from unheard and upcoming artists to world-renowned established acts. In conclusion this is a band who have made amends, not only with themselves but also their sound – Night Driver was an important venture into the wild and shone brightly in places but the trio have found their path, reigniting their desire, chemistry and talent to produce an album that will catch a lot of people of guard, and one that will define them all the way to the year 3000. There’s something refreshing about listening to a pop band that isn’t trying to conform with what is charting well and just doing what they want.
