I have a soft spot for Dave McKean's work, and his issue covers were another thing that made me love this book.

Move over Dracula, there's a new murderous menace in town with teeth to put your pointy canines to shame. More than that, it had always seemed inevitable that I would - other things I liked seemed to be guiding me in that direction. Then, with issue 19 and the Dream King's encounter with Shakespeare, it becomes obvious that this is a work destined to go beyond any previously recognised comic book genre and become a fully-fledged literary gem that repays frequent re-reading.Sandman" is fantastic, quite different from what I got used from a comic book (and it must have been quite ground-breaking at the time it came out).

He stalks through the scenes, he's an arrogant and powerful prince and he doesn't hurry even when he's in a hurry. Other credits include Amazing Spider-Man, The Teen Titans, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Jessica Jones for Netflix, Marvel Agents of S.Some were familiar and some were strange and new to me, and I loved seeing Dream interact with the people/creatures/things in each of them. They have tablet/ebook holders too, I just switch back and forth using the same base stand, easy as pie. The Second part of the volume focuses on a Vortex in the dream world centered around a girl named Rose. Other books she has illustrated have won Eisner and Harvey Awards, and the International Horror Guild Award. They are clearly designed to be evocative of both 19th century household Bibles and late medieval magical grimoires.
