I was embarrassed and distressed by my appearance. I tried everything, even went to a well known makeup artist. I could never hide the scar, I would end up with a heavy caked look, that frankly looked worse than the scar. I would recommend considering your skin tone as well as if your scars have any discoloration. If your scars have no discoloration, then using your normal shade will be fine. Dermaflage is a life saver! I feel as though dermaflage gets a bad rap because there is a STEEP learning curve but DONT GIVE UP! I went through 4 applicators until I perfected my technique. There are others who are faster at learning but it took me 4 because I have a larger and deeper area than most people. If you have shallow scars I’m certain you can perfect it with one applicator. Next problem, none of the colors match!!! Get two different applicator colors! I am neutral pale. Fair was too dark. Golden fair was too yellow. Porcelain was too pink! I had to mix Golden fair with porcelain. Golden fair with fair also worked too to give myself the perfect color match. Tip! Refrigerate before mixing two different colors to give more working time!

Keep one shade lighter and one shade darker if you are getting tan during the summer and are lighter in the winter. Not Totally smudge-proof & can come off on clothes- even with the setting powder, this is a heavy wax-based concealer that is not 100% smudge proof or transfer-proof.

It takes some patience and practice, but Dermaflage does work and is amazing! I do recommend using the primer, too. You have to get the colour right. The colour samples and descriptions on the computer screen may not be accurate, so you just have to get a few different samples and see which matches your skin in real life. Let’s start with the biggest complaint people have. That is it looks like “I have a goiter or a blob on my face”. If this is you, you used too much. Seriously when they say a Little goes a long way, they really mean it. I have a deep indentation so I kept thinking a glob will do and the texture pad should flatten out any excess. Bad idea. A glob with the texture pad often lifts pieces in the middle, creating strange craters. When I reduced the amount of silicone and feathered out with the applicator tools, I was finally able to fix the weird glob look. If you lift the texture pad and still get craters, you can fill it in. I suggest using a applicator tip only for when you get holes in your dermaflage after the pad. The silicone dries too fast for you to transfer and fill in the holes. My use of Dermaflage: fill a scar left on my nose from a biopsie, while I am waiting for a skin cancer surgery Next, you need to make sure that your Dermaflage matches the rest of your foundation so that it blends seamlessly.
