To find a face moisturizer that won’t clog your pores, look for something with non-comedogenic ingredients. Our experts specifically recommend ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, glycerin, and squalane, because they moisturize skin without clogging pores. They also recommend avoiding comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients, like coconut oil, cocoa butter, and lanolin. If you’re especially prone to clogged pores, you may also want a moisturizer made with comedolytic (pore-clearing) ingredients, like salicylic acid. Though ceramides are most commonly associated with improving dryness and skin barrier function, anyone can use and benefit from them. In mature skin, ceramides help retain moisture, giving skin a more firm, plump appearance. Since they’re skin-replenishing ingredients, they can help reduce redness and irritation in sensitive skin. At its current price, the 2.1-ounce moisturizer feels a little expensive. But it’s certainly not the priciest product on our list. For a natural product, we also appreciate that it’s fragrance-free and great for a range of skin types. And we’d happily use the lightweight cream every day.

Recognised as the number one dermacosmetic brand worldwide, La Roche-Posay’s philosophy centres around science-led solutions for even the most sensitive of skin types.Since ceramides complement one another, Dr. Oliver recommends looking for a moisturizer that contains more than one type of ceramide. Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro Whipped Cream and EADEM’s Cloud Cushion Plush Moisturizer with Ceramides + Peptides each contain all three main types of ceramides for triple the potency. To keep the moisturizing benefits going, Dr. Yadav says to look for other emollients. These help moisturize and nourish the skin, she says. Squalane is one of her favorite emollients that mimics the skin’s natural oils, and it’s a key ingredient in the Shani Darden Hydration Peptide Cream. Since skin barrier function is universally important, ceramides in skin care can benefit all skin types and conditions, says Rhonda Klein, MD, FAAD, board-certified dermatologist and co-founder of Modern Dermatology in Westport, Connecticut. Those with skin prone to dryness, eczema, psoriasis, or the signs of aging may benefit most from using a ceramide moisturizer, she adds, but everyone can (and should) incorporate them. to 4.7 stars: These face moisturizers are excellent—they might have minor flaws, but we still recommend them.

The four most common skin types are normal, dry, oily, and combination. Normal skin feels balanced, dry skin can get tight and flaky, oily skin can get greasy and shiny, and combination skin often gets oily in the T-zone (along the forehead and nose). Finding the right moisturizer for your skin type and lifestyle may take some trial and error, says dermatologist Gloria Lin, MD-FAAD. But the dermatologists we spoke to generally recommend heavier creams for dry skin, oil-free moisturizers for oily skin, and combination products for combination skin. La Roche-Posay offers dermatologist-recommended skincare solutions - even for those with the most sensitive skin. La Roche-Posay offers ranges that are specifically tailored for allergic, sensitive, blemish-prone and aging skin, as well as providing expert sun protection. The range also offers products suitable for delicate baby skin.Rhonda Klein, MD, FAAD,board-certified dermatologist and co-founder of Modern Dermatology in Westport, Connecticut The types of acne products recommended by dermatologists can vary depending on a number of factors. “Whichever treatment is right for you will depend on a number of things including your acne severity, how much it bothers you (this doesn't always correlate with severity), your age, and whether you are planning or could become pregnant, to name a few,” says Dr. Mina. She recommends seeking insight from a dermatologist to learn more about your acne type and what types of treatments, ingredients, and product formulations will work best. We can’t deny that its current price is a lot to spend on a 1.6-ounce moisturizer. But if you’ve struggled to find something that balances out your combination skin, this moisturizer may be worth the splurge. The moisturizer was lightweight, fast-absorbing, and easy to apply. And it left our oily skin looking glowy rather than greasy. According to our moisture meter, the gel boosted moisture in our skin by 1 to 15 percent, making us feel hydrated without any heaviness. And while we wouldn’t recommend it for dry skin, it’s great for oily and combination skin. It’s also fragrance-free and sensitive-skin-friendly.

Ceramides are lipids that are naturally found in the skin and used synthetically in skin care products like cleansers, serums, and moisturizers. These lipids account for roughly half of the outermost layer of skin called the epidermis or stratum corneum. SkinCeuticals’ Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 may be the priciest product on our list. But when we tested it on combination skin, it worked wonders. The moisturizer balanced out the oiliest parts of our face, making them look matte rather than shiny. And it hydrated all our dry spots, boosting moisture by 5 percent, according to our moisture meter. According to Dr. Mina, expensive acne products are not always worth it. She says that more budget-friendly products can be just as effective as their fancy counterparts. “What’s most important is that you turn the product around and look at the active ingredient,” she explains, noting that this information alone can tell you how effective a product is compared to its more expensive counterpart (and, they’re often very comparable).to 5 stars: These are the best ceramide moisturizers we tested. We recommend them without reservation. One thing that makes this moisturizer truly special? It’s suitable for every skin type, from dry to oily skin. For the price, we wish the 2-ounce tub was a little bigger. But we’ll take what we can get with a moisturizer this great.
