When connected via Mesh, users have said there are no issues with the GPS cutting in, and the conversation continues afterwards with no interruption; however, if music is playing too via the Bluetooth, once the GPS has given directions, the headset switches just to Bluetooth and disconnects from Mesh. The 50R-02 features three different intercom modes: Group Mesh Intercom, Multi-Channel Open Mesh Intercom, and Bluetooth Intercom. With two Senas connected via Mesh the TomTom seemed to work fine, but I did notice that if either user presses the scroll wheel in, the Mesh connection is disabled as the unit connects via Bluetooth. Press the Mesh button and it reconnects, then disconnects itself, so you need to press the scroll wheel again to turn the Bluetooth connection off.
Before buying the Sena 50S Duo
The battery in the Sena 50R is smaller than the one used in the Sena 50S. The 50R battery rated at 8 and 13 hours (Mesh and Bluetooth Intercom use respectively) as opposed to the 9 and 14 hours for the Sena 50S. Both variants utilize rapid charging, thanks in part to the newer standard provided with the USB-C interface. Sena 50R Specifications The auxiliary connection might appeal to some users, but I expect any headset to connect all my devices via Bluetooth, so smooth connections here are really important to me, and with the GPS connected through GPS pairing mode, instructions are fed direct to the intercom. complete with ALL tags in place, helmet bag, manual, protective plastic on visor and any other associated parts supplied.

The last used Mesh Channel is retained in memory whether Mesh is exited and/or the system is turned off. However, Mesh allows virtually an unlimited number of riders to connect and communicate in open mode. Essentially it is an intercom system that works like a standard handheld or CB radio; in open Mesh mode, the unit switches between 9 different channels to connect with users. A poorly fitting helmet may not only be uncomfortable, more noisy and may move around when riding if too big or give headaches etc if it is too small, it is also dangerous. A helmet simply will not protect or perform as designed if the head inside it is not snuggly fitted against the impact absorbing material inside the shell.An adhesive mount is also supplied, though you’ll need to swap some parts over from the clamp to use it. The R is intended to be mounted to the helmet directly with adhesive pads, whereas the S comes with a universal clamp mounting system. Take control of the 50R-02 without lifting a finger. Voice commands give you hands-free control of the 50R, operating select functions, including entering Open Mesh or answering a phone call. Simply say a command, and the 50R will act for you.
