Description

Why DJI called these the Goggles 2 when they already have a Goggles V2 is beyond us, but it seems destined to confuse DJI’s customers. Real-time screen correction is unavailable during recording, but can be applied to the footage recorded on the drone. The Motion Controller can be used with the DJI Avata for Normal (N) Mode - best for beginners - and Sport (S) Mode, which is a middle-tier mode, between N and M.

Drone Only: Ideal for FPV operators who already have compatible goggles and controllers, but want to fly the DJI Avata. One slightly surprising feature if the DJI Avata is that it's substantially slower than its DJI FPV predecessor. Using the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2, as we did on many of our flights, is more intuitive for experienced drone pilots. When combined with the excellent view provided by the Goggles 2 and the agility of the Avata, it provided for easy precision flying and a high degree of exhilaration as we cruised low to the ground or between tree tops. In short, flying the Avata is a blast.Does not come with a standard controller, only motion controller. DJI Avata is also compatible with DJI FPV Remote Controller

Tested in an outdoor open environment without interference. The video transmission latency varies with different goggles. DJI FPV Goggles V2 can achieve video transmission of up to 810p. When you use DJI FPV Goggles V2 with the 810p/120fps video transmission, the lowest video transmission latency is less than 28 ms. After flying the Avata, I have some real questions about its safety—despite DJI's smart decision to make propeller guards part of the airframe itself. My concern is more about the speed and most likely use cases for the drone: Let's face it, you're getting this one to experience the thrill of low-altitude flight or to nab a Sam Raimi-style effects shot for your indie horror film, not for real estate photography or aerial landscape footage. For the record, the DJI Motion Controller supports more intuitive and easy-to-use controls for the DJI Avata, supporting one-handed operation and using hand movements to control the drone. Meanwhile, the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 is required for users who want to use M (Manual) Mode for precise, complete and limitless control. While we can’t confirm this currently, we’ve been told that the blade guard and main frame of the drone will be purchasable as replacements from DJI, allowing owners to replace them if they have an unfortunate accident. The nose-mounted camera supports 4K60 and 2.7K100 video with a mix of gimbal and digital stabilization (Credit: Jim Fisher)
