Description

This Dulux paint will usually only need one or two coats, and is ready to recoat after six hours, meaning you can easily complete a decent-sized painting project in under a day. Cleaning up is a cinch, too. Given the great sheen and decent coverage, you may be surprised to hear that this satinwood paint is actually water-based, meaning brushes and rollers can be cleaned with just soapy water. It is used in a variety of ways, which is why eggshell comes in oil-based and water-based formulations. It can be used on woodwork such as bedroom furniture, kitchen cabinets, skirting-boards or doors or with acrylic eggshells in higher-traffic rooms such as children's bedrooms. The reason it is more suitable for these higher-traffic rooms is that it has added durability compared to a matt emulsion, allowing it to be easily wiped and cleaned without marking the paint. It is also suitable for high condensation rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens as they have moisture resistant properties. Water-based gloss is harder to use (not levelling like oil-based gloss) but it won’t yellow with time, which is important for the client. One thing that is important for any decorator is drying time, and water-based gloss has a drying time of around 6 hours. This means you can put second coat on same day. It also doesn’t smell like solvent and finally, your brushes are easier to clean. Some professional painters and decorators prefer to use white spirit and others swear by methylated spirit. Whatever gives you the best results is the best spirit to use! Can I use white spirit instead of methylated spirit?

Excellent UV durability (good for exterior timber) (better resistance against chalking and colour fade)This gloss still looks brand new years after it has been applied. You may find it easier to apply the paint using a foam roller, then laying off with a brush. Keeping your brush wet, or even wiping your surfaces with a damp cloth before painting will help you avoid brush marks. Key Specs – Paint base: Water; Approx. coverage: 12m 2per litre; Touch-dry time: 2 hours; Recoat time: 6 hours; Other colours available: Yes, a wide range

Williamsburg Porcelain White is based on a new pigment (for Williamsburg), PW 5, it is a complex co-precipitate of barium sulfate and zinc sulfide more commonly known as Lithopone. But let’s not get too bogged down with the science of paint. All I want to do in this blog, is talk about what I think are the three best white gloss products on the market. I can only go off my personal experience, so I apologise if your favourite isn’t on the list. However, I am a massive product geek, so I have tried a large proportion of the gloss paints that are available. This satinwood paint from Leyland is an excellent all-rounder. Suitable for almost all projects, it’s easy to use, long-lasting and durable. While it will need two coats to get the fullest coverage, a little goes a very long way, and as you don’t need to use primer, it’s great for those on a budget. It’s hard-wearing, easy to clean and usually very straightforward to use. While it’s most commonly found in only one or two shades of white, some brands offer a wider range of colours, giving you the option to truly personalise your space. The reality of all paint brands is that the quality varies from paint to paint. While some paints may be excellent in colours, some perform better in a white shade. Due to the susceptibility of oil-based paints to yellow, finding the one that minimises yellowing is crucial if you are using a white oil-based gloss. No matter the surface, preparation is a hugely important part the process. Before painting, you must ensure the surface is sound & clean. They emit very strong odors thanks to the high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present in most oil-based formulas. Therefore, proper ventilation is important during application! Open windows and turn on a fan to circulate the air. It can be applied with either a paint brush or a foam roller, and getting a smooth surface with no streaks or drips is easy, even for beginners. Although it should always be applied in a well-ventilated area, it has a much weaker odour than other oil-based satinwood paints. Once again it can be mixed in any colour, including Dulux, RAL & British Standard colours. While white is by far the most popular shade for woodwork such as doors and skirting boards, the use of colour has become increasingly popular. It is also ideal for painting furniture, where its ability to be mixed in any colour can allow you to let your imagine go wild.
