About this deal

Good for – woodlands, open heathland, wildlife – home to 45 rare species of birds. 78 – The Stiperstones to The Devil’s Chair Good for – views over Worcestershire all the way to Wales, the tower was designed by Capability Brown and was home to artists William Morris and Edward Burne Jones. 72 – Leith Hill The village of Edale in the Peak District that’s best known as the starting point of the Pennine Way and as the most popular starting point for walks up Kinder Scout. While these two walks will obviously appear in any list of walks from the village, there’s plenty more excellent walking available directly from the village. Of the top 100 – here are a few of our favourites, which we admit are a little biasaed towards mountain walks and the Welsh Coast. 32 Anglesey Coast Path

Good for – spectacular views of the River Severn, the Forest of Dean, and the Cotswolds. 91 – Worcester & Birmingham Canal Walking is one of Britain’s best loved pastimes. Every month, up to nine million folk pull on their boots and head to the great outdoors.” – Julia Bradbury Ingleton Waterfalls (4.3 miles - map) - bus 80 from Lancaster/Bentham, Craven Connection bus from Lancaster/Kirkby Lonsdale/Settle/Skipton and Summer Sunday Northern DalesBus 830 from Preston/Lancaster. Where is the Fife Coastal Path? – The Fife Coastal Path runs from the Firth of Forth in the South to the Firth of Tay in the North, on the east of Scotland.Another epic day out, that could well be done in reverse and combined with the previous route to create a mini LDP. In fact, you could link it to the Snowdon Challenge and create an absolute monster. Starting off at Maentwrog or the Oakley Arms, you first ascend Moelwyn Bach, then Mawr before the decsision is taken to head for Cnicht or Allt Fawr. Cnicht makes a logical continuation before then bagging the outliers of Moel Druman and Allt Fawr. Returning over these, you have a wild walk over Moel Meirch and the just too short Carnedd y Cribau, but one of the best views of Snowdon. Finally ascending the least interesting ridge of Siabod before descending whichever route you see fit. 8 summits bagged in this excursion with only the tops to the east of the A470 left over (Manod and Moel Penamnen). 3 Moelwynion from Maentwrog to Capel 4 Rhinogydd from Traws to Bontddu

The hardest decision was to exclude Nantlle, but that’s included as the optional 8th day, as we never follow the rules we set out for ourselves. 1 Snowdon Challenge Route Highlights: Follow the trail out from Britain’s smallest city to the charming village of Solva, complete with harbour and surrounding walks over the areas unspoilt coastal scenery. See Full Route >Each title focuses on a popular area of Great Britain and features 28 outstanding circular walks of varying length. Each walk includes a difficulty rating and detailed route information, highlighting where to park, where to stop for refreshment, and all points of interest along the route. Popular with visitors and locals, they are a great way to discover the best an area has to offer. Short Walks Good for – the amazing engineering of the Pontcysylite Aqueduct, picturesque views and canal walk. 59 – Kielder Water This one’s an epic. The distance is plenty, the ascent greater. Starting off by gently ascending over Conwy Mountain, which isn’t one, and on to Tal y Fan which is. Continuing on towards Drum, Foel Fras, Garnedd Uchaf (resist the name change!), Foel Fras and finally the highest point of Carnedd Llewelyn. Bagging the lot is now made difficult as you’ve four ridges that meet up at Llewelyn. You’ve the Elen in one direction, which you can descend to naturally before contouring and continuing over Carnedd Dafydd and Pen yr Ole Wen. Of course, there’s nothing stopping you doing that and returning to Llewelyn and continuing with the route we suggest. End the route by descending to Bwlch Eryl Farchog and over Pen yr Helgi Du and Pen Llithrig y Wrach before descending to Capel. You manage to bag 5 proper summits (with 3 well known tops that are only bumps in the ridge) while missing out on the other 4 summits. You’ll need 2 other walks to finish these off! 2 Carneddau from Conwy to Capel 3 Moelwynion from Maentwrog to Capel

Where is Arthur’s Seat? – Arthur’s Seat can be found on an extinct volcano above Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. In contrast to the mountains and valleys of the nearby Lake District, this is a place of open moorland and big skies in a landscape crisscrossed by dry-stone walls. Please keep in mind that you must select ‘walking’ in the first question or you will be disqualified.
