Description

Charge 10 comes with an integrated AC adapter solution that makes it less bulky and easy to store or travel with. Its unique low noise fan keeps batteries cool and charging quiet, and it allows up to 10 amperes of charging input. With an operating temperature ranging from 0°C to 35°C, Charge 10 delivers reliable performance even in extreme environments.

Price is the other issue: these are more expensive batteries than much of the competition. If you need the extra power, the extra outlay is worth it; if not, a set of lower-capacity batteries may do the job for you. The speed of fast charging depends on the battery and its capacity. Ordinary rechargeable batteries usually take three to four hours to charge if charged in eco mode, which slows down to avoid reducing battery life and capacity. True lightning charging can halve the charging time – GP says down to 80 minutes – but it was difficult to achieve in our test. Charge 10 uses a unique charging algorithm which optimises the charging current so that the batteries are charged in the fastest possible time, depending on the individual battery type, condition, and temperature. This is done in a safe way and with an innovative cross-flow cooling fan that distributes cool air evenly and quietly to avoid overheating. When it comes to cameras, rechargeable batteries can cut down on unnecessary bulk for photographers and tend to be a more reliable option when it comes to capturing memories. Shop with GP to discover your photographer essential batteries. This kind of emits heat, and therefore you can hear the hiss from the built-in fan when charging. The charging current is stated at 1.5-10 amps, while ReCyko Pro works with 2 amps charging current. The product name, Ansmann Digital AA HR6 2850mAh, tells you all you need to know. These are super-high-capacity AA rechargeable batteries with a massive rated 2850mAh capacity. We can safely say that this is correct, and in our tests, the Ansmann Digital AA HR6 2850mAh batteries delivered a huge capacity of 2911mAh, with little fluctuation over the entire 50 cycles. All these single-use batteries require more of the world's natural resources to produce, and as discussed above, this is unnecessary in today’s modern world. Next, I measured initial capacity, using a high drain test (600mA +/-20%). Initially, the GP ReCyko 2600mAh AA showed a capacity of 2805mAh, which is considerably higher than the quoted drain. That’s impressive.

Next, I measured the capacity of the batteries using a high-drain test (600mA +/-20%, with a cut-off voltage of 0.94V). Initially, the charge was 2795mAh, which is a good deal higher than the rated capacity of the batteries. Not only that, but the GP ReCyko Pro 2000mAh AA can hold 70% of a charge after five years. In other words, you can charge them today, store them in a cupboard and have them ready for action when you need them. Charge 10 is compact and stylish - it charges four 1700mAh AA Recyko Charge 10 batteries to 90%+ of full charge capacity in just 10minutes. Other rechargeable NiMH AA and AAA batteries are also compatible with the Charge 10. Its unique charging algorithm profile selects the optimum charging current to charge up the batteries in the shortest period. Choose between two charging modes: Ultra-fast mode when time is of the essence or Eco mode to maximise battery lifetime.

Fact: New generation rechargeable batteries are pre-charged and ready to use right out of the box. There is no need to charge them up before first use.

A relatively high price and comparatively short number of charge cycles do take the shine off them a little. Design and Charges When it comes to standard NiMH rechargeable batteries, there are three things that you need to consider: the total number of charge cycles, their capacity, and how long they stay charged for. The Duracell Rechargeable AA 2500mAh performs well on all fronts, starting with a high overall capacity of 2500mAh. This doesn’t mean that these batteries aren’t useful, just that if you want them to last for a long time, the relatively low number of charge cycles gets in the way. With a starting voltage of 1.4V, these batteries were above the lower limit of 1.2V for rechargeable batteries. Capacity is decent. Rated at 2000mAh, we found that these batteries managed an initial result of 2218mAh, and that didn’t change over the full 50 cycles that we put the batteries through. That’s enough power to take on the most powerful jobs, although if you really need more power, the Ansmann Digital AA HR6 2850mAh may be better. It used to be that rechargeable batteries suffered from high battery drain, losing a considerable amount of power while sat idle, which made them unsuitable for many jobs. For example, in remote controls, rechargeable batteries would run out of power at more regular intervals than standard disposable batteries, making them an annoying choice. However, improvements in technology now mean that there are rechargeables that can compete with alkaline models for longevity. Voltage drops as the batteries are discharged – although, with NiMH, the voltage drop is much slower than with alkaline batteries. In turn, this makes rechargeable batteries able to cope with higher-drain use, delivering higher capacities than non-rechargeable batteries, such as the Duracell Plus AA. Fact: New generation rechargeable batteries are built with a very low self-discharge rate, meaning they can stay up to 80% charged after 12 months when left idle. To see how well the GP Recyko Charge 10 AA batteries worked, I used an Ansmann Energy XC3000 to measure capacity and voltage. Rechargeable batteries such as these should have a nominal starting voltage of 1.2V, although I measured these at a higher 1.35V, which is good. If you buy in bulk, these batteries are excellent value, so make a good choice if you need a lot of high-power batteries. If you need more flexibility, the GP ReCyko Pro 2000mAh AA may be better.
