But right now that’s just not possible, so I don’t really see the benefit of having ‘smart’ radiator valves. A TRV will have values 1-5 to indicate the temperatures they should come on at, along with 0 (and maybe a * option) to indicate it should stay off, or only come on occasionally. These monitor a room’s temperature, and will only allow hot water into the radiator (i.e. only allow the radiator to ‘turn on’) if the ambient temperature is low enough. This is disappointing, especially as there are other smart thermostats from Honeywell, like the Lyric, that have all these integrations (but don’t have the zonal control of the Evohome). Hopefully there will be an Evohome 2 at some point down the line that combines the best of both. This means you can remotely set the thermostat temperature, and it will turn the boiler on and off to maintain the temperature of the room it's placed in.This means you won’t be able to use the Lyric T6R to adjust temperatures in a specific room - any setting is mirrored around your home and it’s not compatible with smart radiator valves, underfloor heating systems or hot water controls (which the Honeywell Evohome is). The Honeywell EvoHome is suited for much larger properties.
