But, no! I actually kinda super like this one. I think I prefer lily of the valley to freesia & that’s why it’s not a complete love for me- but it’s a nice cool firm freesia. It’s all very clean and the laundry musk is very nice. I just like my musks warmer, maybe? This seems more crisp, clean, folded than warm & fluffy. A little sharp & a little fast like a cool breeze- it’s really nice. I’m thinking I might try layering it with something a little warmer to slow it down. Philosophy Pure Grace has been a rare exception in my case. As such, it’s remained my go-to fragrance for almost 2 decades. For me, it’s pretty linear (which is more of a plus than a minus imho) once it dries down into a uniquely bright and fresh (while not venturing over into sharp territory) yet sensuous, not-too-sweet blend of florals and musk. On my skin it wears as a so-called skin scent, which is exactly what I want: a scent that works and blends with my body chemistry as a subtle enhancement, as if it becomes integrated with my natural scent, rather something sitting on top of my skin and unrelated to it, as if it were a piece of ill-fitting clothing. When I tried this on, my first impression was hand soap. Really nice hand soap, from the ladies' room of an upscale department store or something, but definitely soapy. Possibly a hint of sunscreen as well, although I'm not 100% sure. So the musk is pretty dominant at first, but some of the floral notes come through shortly after the initial spray. This is definitely a "fresh out of the shower" scent, so it's the kind of thing I would wear to the office or on a (casual, daytime) first date or just to hang out at my boyfriend's place to watch Netflix. It's the kind of fragrance that makes people think you just smell like that--they're more likely to guess that it's your shampoo, soap, or body lotion that's making you smell so good, and they would not expect it to be your perfume. It is very feminine, fresh, and clean; I imagine that the woman who wears this as a signature scent probably wears a lot of white and never worries that she might get a smudge of dirt on her skirt or a drip of sauce on her sweater--her immaculately clean house is painted in shades of cream and light beige, there are always fresh flowers on the credenza, and everything is just so. So for me, definitely an aspirational scent. Amazing Grace is really out of character for me, but I think if I can get past the soapy/sunscreen bit at the beginning, then it could be a promising addition to my collection, because it smells like #adulting and I honestly need that vibe in my life.

I find this a nondescript, inoffensive, floral-leaning musk. Not a musk bomb though...just an underwhelming, safe musk. At first I hated it. Upon first spray all I could detect was a sharp smell of chemicals almost like hair spray. After a while when it had settled down it turned to a floral soapy freshness. I don’t really smell any jasmine on me it smells more like lily of the valley.. maybe its my chemistry or my poor recognition of notesI bought a sample then instantly bought the whole eau du parfum because it's like putting on your wedding dress on your wedding day when you're young and have your whole life ahead of you, and you glance outside and see the warm sun on a summers day beaming down on your white rose bouquet. you feel loved, hopeful, excited yet fearful. butterflies in your tummy. sparkling, hopeful, fresh, romantic, exciting, you feel beautiful and feminine, youthful, loved. You know, I think I am a bit biased, because I tend to associate soapy fragrances with scents-without-personality. Now that I have learned more about fragrances after a few years, I have changed my mind and am trying to train my nostrils and artistic sensibility in the world of fragrances! Fast forward a year: last night I saw the same friend again and got a brief whiff of her perfume - it was lovely. And when I asked, sure enough, it was Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. When we got home, I tried my bottle again; on me it’s still awful. Needless to say, my friend was quite relieved when I gifted her a full bottle of her signature scent, and all was right in the world again. PB Premiere Amazing Grace* (a spot-on dupe for Philosophy's AG, it just doesn't have as good longevity and sillage).

Use a light hand and they are inoffensive and dry down to a powdery smell that is appropriate to wear in environments where people are sensitive to perfumes. If you cut "Lavender" out and put "Citrus" more, then it's gonna be "Philosophy Amazing Grace", really their smell are so similar in the way of another compounding note like musky, white flowers etc.

Multi-tasking skincare and feel-good perfumes are the beating heart of Philosophy. Fully tested for safety and efficacy, these formulas are everything you need to smell good and feel even better.

My mother adores this, her favourite flower is lily of the valley and she told me I smelled like a field of flowers. I'll have to try this one again in the summer. Maybe the soapy smell will come out more in the heat? I hope. Fragrances like 'Amazing Grace' are the perfect example as to why I really wish that Fragrantica had an option that allowed us to judge a scent as being 'meh'. A way of saying that we don't like nor dislike a fragrance. Because sometimes we can smell something and think, well it's not UNpleasant, but I can't say that I really like it.
