About this deal

I think that making yourself available means putting the relationship you're in first. Not necessarily always, but often. It means making the decision that's best for the two of you, as a unit, even if it means compromising a little individually. It means sharing everything.” Josie Silver writes with a warmth so palpable her characters sneak their way into your heart and stay for a long time. One Day in December is an exploration of love that reads like a thriller, filled with secrets and heart-aching betrayals. The perfect book to get lost in this holiday season.” Love does that. It makes you feel infinite and invincible, like the whole world is open to you, anything is achievable, and each day will be filled with wonder. Maybe it's the act of opening yourself up, letting someone else in—or maybe it's the act of caring so deeply

I liked Lucy and Gabe’s connection. Their connection was immediate and intense. You could feel their chemistry from the very beginning. Gabe was a charismatic character and it was easy to see how Lucy was attracted to him. Their connection was so strong throughout all the years and their ups and downs.Even if this book made me cry, the plotting at some point seemed too contrived, thus the rushed pace. A feel-good, heart-wrenching tribute to the female friends we cannot do without, as well as the men that we fall for. Josie Silver is one to watch.”

The memory of ______ will live on long after they’ve gone and be an inspiration for so many. My deepest sympathy for your loss Lucy feels a real connection with Gabe after five seconds of knowing each other. And it's a connection so strong that they brake up after said 5 seconds. And here are some of Lucy's thoughts: I loved it until about 75% in and then the turn of events made me angry. I wasn’t okay with the decisions Lucy made. Who thinks their husband is cheating for 6 months and never confronts him? I just couldn’t agree with the horrible choice Lucy made. And there was no closure. Did her and Darren make it? Ugh.You yourself were a student at Columbia University on September 11, 2001. What was it like writing about this experience through fiction? Were your own experiences similar? But Bobby, Iris's best friend, isn't about to let her hide away. He convinces her to come with him to a famous autumn street fair in Little Italy. As they walk around enjoying all the food and life the neighborhood has to offer, a little family-run gelato shop catches her eye—it's the same shop that's in an old photo of her mother's. I am with you on the fact that Lucy chose to remain with the next guy that came into her life after Gabe, and it being a perhaps un-wise decision. She could have gone out with others to be help clarify what she felt for Gabe. I’m very glad you highlighted the point that Lucy was pretty much unsatisfied with her life throughout the whole story, since she always remembered Gabe, which reinforces my arguments that Lucy should have truly expressed everything she felt to Gabe.

I hope that you find a love like that—one that is all-consuming and powerful, that makes you feel like you’re going slightly mad. And if you do find that love, embrace it. Hold on to it. When you give yourself over to love like that, your heart will get bruised. It will get battered. But you will also feel invincible and infinite.”Thousands of hopefuls auditioned for the lead role of a blind character in an epic second world war drama series for Netflix that is based on a Pulitzer prize-winning novel. But the producers of All the Light We Cannot See have chosen a student with no formal acting training who is registered blind, in a move that has been welcomed by disability rights activists. So they break up and their lives continue to be amazing and successful but they're not happy because they just love each other so much. Love does that. It makes you feel infinite and invincible, like the whole world is open to you, anything is achievable, and each day will be filled with wonder. Maybe it’s the act of opening yourself up, letting someone else in— or maybe it’s the act of caring so deeply about another person that it expands your heart. I’ve heard so many people say some version of I never knew how much I could love another human being until . . . And after the until is usually something like my niece was born or I gave birth to a child or I adopted a baby. I never knew how much I could love another human being until I met you, Gabe. Unfortunately, Lucy decides to disconnect Gabe from the machines, because it turns out Gabe had stated in a letter that if something were to happen to him, he did not want to stay connected to machines. The novel finalizes with Lucy writing a letter to Gabe and her son, a letter she debates when she will give it to their child, and explains that she has not told Darren yet that her third child is Gabe’s, not his. Lucy explains to her son that she sees it was her and Gabe’s choice for each other that led to this. Arguably, it was Lucy’s major decisions that caused such a sad ending to their lives together. I craved the kind of closeness I felt in your embrace... I imagined giving myself over to you, completely, the way I used to, abandoning all control, letting you be in charge. I wanted that. I needed that. I'd been trying so hard to hold everything together, and I was done. I needed someone else to take over. I needed YOU to take over.”
