Description

A Weekly Log is an overview of your Tasks and Events for the upcoming week. It allows you to see a visual overview of your weekly schedule — you can think of it as your Week At A Glance. Try writing a word in different styles. Use the dot grid to try skinny, tall and wide lettering styles. Think about high high the tops and bottoms of letters fall and use the grid to measure them. For example: create different styled lettering by creating a tall 'f' stem and along 'y' stem. Via @creativelybeth I personally feel like creating a key is the heart of dot-journaling. A key is basically a set of symbols or colors or short cuts you create yourself to make your note-taking more comfortable and efficient. To write in a dot grid journal, pretend the dots are lines and use a row of dots as a horizontal line. After you’ve finished writing on a dot-row, you can go to the next row or skip a row if you like.

Grid paper helps you keep things perfectly aligned but is a bit busy if you want to draw or decorate. It’s a bit distracting from your work. Thanks to listproducer.com I’ve met a lot of people in the productivity community and the more people I meet the more I find we have in common. We tend to be stationary nerds, who love Marie Kondo and are always looking out for the best way to get organized. So it’s no surprise that the latest to-do trend, that combines a to-do list with a planner and a diary, has become a big success in the productivity community. I’m talking, of course, about dot journaling. You need to consider the size of your letters before drawing columns. Because, rather than squeezing in your handwriting to fit in the columns, it is better to change the column size according to your writing. In a pre-printed planner, you can easily flip six months ahead and jot down an appointment. With a bullet journal, you don’t have that ability. So how do you plan far ahead without setting up spreads months in advance? The future log is the solution! Some people may try to tell you that it’s a waste of time or isn’t a “real” bullet journal. Here’s a piece of advice from someone who’s been doing this for many years now: they’re full of it. Your bullet journal can be whatever style you want. As long as it works for you and it makes you happy, you’re golden. As many people move to a new journal, they have to think about what to do with old collections. Do you rewrite them all in the new journal? Do you leave them behind? For everyone, this answer will be different. However, there are some things to consider. Is the collection a one-time list or something that you use again and again?

Oh it's a "future spread," is it? You sure you're not just misremembering "future log"? LOL just kidding, we all know it's so you can pretend this is your system somehow. The book contains some information on the author's favourite supplies at the end of the book which I thought would be handy when I go shopping for journaling supplies in the future. I can't get most of those things where I live so I will probably just start without them for now. Rhodia Dot Grip Notebook has an excellent quality of the paper, but the dots are a bit darker when compared to the other journals. So if having darker dots isn’t your concern, then you can happily choose the Rhodia Dot Grip Notebook. The best remedy, I’ve found, is reminding yourself how much you’ve grown. You should only ever compare your work to your past work — because you’re the only one on this journey. Everyone else is on their own! Many people may love the idea of a bullet journal, but feel intimidated by the design element of it all, as the practice does require a certain element of quality penmanship and basic drawing skills. Fortunately, there’s another option that makes bullet journaling more attainable for the masses: a premade journal. You don’t have to be an artistic person to create your own bullet journal spread. There are tons of great ideas online that can help you get bullet journal inspiration. But it can be overwhelming to figure out what bullet journal supplies and notebooks you need before you can even start thinking about your weekly or monthly spread. There’s another journal option and it’s a dot grid. Since it’s so new, people often ask, what is a dot grid journal? These journals became famous as the dots aren’t invasive yet provide you with subtle guidance in keeping your writing and drawings straight.

You'll learn stuff, too! This isn't just a how-to - it's a "why people have," interspersed with excerpts from famous journals and lots of tidbits about the lost art of journal-keeping. Well, mostly lost, as Miller is right here to revive it for you. As with many journaling materials, this category is very subjective because it depends again on what you like writing with and how creative you want to get with your planner. It’s important to remember that your bujo is not a diary, but rather a form of planner system that is meant to help keep you organized and be more productive. Every log and entry in your bullet journal is a collection– because they are groups of related things. Keeping a bullet journal definitely helps me break down my tasks during the day. I don’t know if it’s just me but I remember things better when I write them down on paper so I still prefer to write everything on paper instead of my notes in my phone. I also tend to look at a computer screen aaall day so I try not to rely on my computer or my phone too much for things like planning my days and personal goals.Okay, so we’ve covered all the basics. You’re ready to get started with your bullet journal and get your new system humming along efficiently. Well done! As you go throughout your day, you can mark items as complete. If you don’t complete all of your daily tasks, that’s okay! Review your Daily Log, figure out which incomplete Tasks are worth working on tomorrow, and migrate them to the next day. You can mark incomplete items as “canceled” or “migrated” if you wish. If minimalism bores you and you crave color, shapes, patterns, art, and lettering, then congratulations! You fall more into my camp, which I call camp maximalism. Don’t get me wrong, I love minimalism in other people’s journals. But I just can’t stop myself from making all kinds of bright spreads — and if you feel the same way, then that is marvelous. Embrace it! Beauty for the Drawing Impaired However, I have found that I am much more likely to use mine every day when I get some joy from the materials I use. That means that a nicer journal and some bright, funky pens are also a great way to get started and enjoy the process a bit more. I highly suggest that you find yourself a few materials that make you feel good and that bring you joy to use. If you love the supplies, you’ll be drawn to using your journal daily. The RETTACY Dot Grid Notebook has a transparent hardcover to keep it protected. And even though it’s not quite durable enough to use without a tabletop, the clear cover is a nice touch that allows you to create a “custom” cover without writing on the cover itself—perfect for changing things up every once in a while.

For more intricate art, I would use the Procreate art app to make whatever my heart desired. Then I would export the art as a PNG and bring it into my digital planner. The benefit of this method is that I can create a doodle or nicely lettered header and use it again and again. Looking for bullet journal ideas to add to your notebook? In this post, I am going to share over 100 amazing Bullet Journal Collections for you to try. Then I began reading and was grateful as the author assured us that dot journaling is whatever you want it to be, that her layouts are guidelines and ideas. She even admitted that everything looked perfect in this book because it’s her job to make it look nice. Which makes sense.
