About this deal

The U6G uses a VA panel, resulting in much better contrast and better black uniformity, making it the better choice for a dark room. The Hisense has much better viewing angles and much better accuracy, but it's better suited for a room with a bit of lighting, as it has low contrast but can't get bright enough to overcome glare. Also, the low contrast and lack of a local dimming feature mean this isn't the best choice for late-night gaming in a dark room as blacks look gray.

Having looked at the 55-inch model, we’ve lassoed Hisense’s 65-inch flagship ahead of the 2021 TV range being released. It uses a standard LED backlight, but incorporating Dolby Vision to manage HDR contentgivesa cinematic sheen to movies. If you’re going to stick to watching 4K (or, at a slight push, 1080p) content, the positives outweigh the negatives… but that sound will need to be dealt with as a priority.

It also has a quad-core processor providing sufficient power to ensure a responsive user experience. The feature set of the A7G is improved from previous generations, with the addition of gaming features positioning the Hisense as a cheaper alternative to the likes of LG and Samsung in that area. Like the previous model, the A7G is a TV to watch in a brighter film than one to dim the lights for on movie night. I measured peak HDR brightness at 300 nits using the Standard preset, within a 10 per cent measurement window. There’s the same strength to colours, but they’re more accurate, while the image is sharper, clearer and more detailed.

This filter helps to emit a brighter and wider gamut of colours than a conventional LED TV is capable of. Although there aren't many significant differences between them, the LG UP7000 is slightly better than the Hisense A6G. The inputs face to the side, but because they're towards the center, they can be hard to reach, especially if you have it wall-mounted. As a result, the audio performance is perfunctory at best, and the reality is that even a simple single-unit soundbar will deliver a higher quality sonic experience with content like TV shows, movies and games. Any use of any Smart Services by any individuals not of such age shall be considered a violation of this EULA.Both TVs use different panel types with different sizes, meaning the exact performance difference may vary. However, the lack of any bass, and a tendency to sound brittle at higher volumes, makes it unsuitable for blockbuster soundtracks. The remote certainly doesn’t feel any less expensive than alternative designs from the big 5 (them again), and its buttons are numerous yet sensibly sized. A HDR10+ stream of 1917 on Prime Video looks close to – but less refined – than its disc-based counterpart. But once you’ve solved the problem of where to put it, the Hisense A6G doesn’t look at all bad: its bezels are slim, its branding is understated, and the plastics from which it’s made don’t feel overtly hard or thin.
