After all, this latest side-scrolling effort from Sonic Team really has two things going against it straight away. While we wait for the Nintendo Life review, we've put together this round up featuring a range of different scores. But now they've added non-platform games like Drift, Labyrinth, Sky Patrol and the 8bit versions of Mean Bean and Spinball, it makes ZERO sense to not also include the Megadrive spinoff games and Chaotix as well, and round out the package.

LikelySatan Not all of them are awful, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, Triple Troubles, Mean Bean Machines, Sonic Drift 2, and the two Tails games were good. I did get to go to the US regularly at the time, so although I had more exposure to the NES, back in the UK home computers like the ZX Spectrum and C64 ruled the roost, with the Master System well known.

Even though I've been playing the old games since the mid 90s, they feel cramped when I go back to them nowadays. but probably because of the huge American infleunce in Western culture, especially English speaking media.

And Classic Amy is my favourite Sonic character, I'm always annoyed how often she gets left out and how comparitively less merch there is for her. Sonic Origins presents four of the hedgehog's best games with style, and it's a joy to revisit these iconic platformers. Previous compilations that include the GG games (Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Mega Collection Plus) never had any SMS games - and given how much of a botch job Sonic Origins already is, I don't expect Sega to make any extra effort this time either.For most of Europe (plus Australia and New Zealand) the Master System was ubiquitous, well into 1995, and far beyond that in Brazil, of course.
