The book breathlessly shows this cast taking the next steps into adulthood, affirming or discovering their queerness across the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ umbrella against the backdrop of an unaccepting small town, while also showing that people do not have to behave perfectly to be loved.I felt that it was paced perfectly for their characters and situations and adored the build up just as much as seeing them together. The premise is deceptively complex, but neatly paced, and everything ties up satisfyingly by the end. In the beginning I struggled to like Chloe and definitely Shara, but when the story wrapped up, you get to see the growth of these kids and a beautiful story of young love.
