The two other modules are rear-facing cameras that clip onto the main camera itself. There’s a connector slot on the right-hand side of the main unit (the 522GW). You can choose between a module that records the passenger cabin (ideal for taxi and Uber drivers to keep an eye on their customers), and a module that zoom-records out of the rear window. Both of these look quite similar. As for video footage itself, the Nextbase 522GW does a pretty good job, and is one of the better dash cams we have used in recent years. Exposure is handled well to ensure good detail across both shadows and highlights, while the integrated polarising lens helps reduce windscreen glare on sunny days. The lens rotates so you can adjust how effective it is. The Nextbase 522GW is the most sophisticated of the Series 2 models, with a maximum resolution of 1440p at 30 frames per second (fps), or 1080p at 60fps. We recommend the latter (1080p @60fps), because the camera is more light sensitive at 1080p. Also, 60fps allow for smoother video and a higher chance of capturing license plates should the need arise.
