I like the small town setting with local gossips and hidden pasts, budding romances. Single hot dad trip etc. I hoped Miles didn’t hear my last sentence, but after seeing the small quirk of his eyebrow, regret filled my chest. Shelby is a strong woman who’s clearly been through the mill and with the help of Miles she’s starting to see things differently, she could use a little nudge in the right direction! Then you bring Abi, Anders and Bash into the mix and I’m so excited to find out what the story is here, I’m expecting a lot more from Bash in part two! Amazing summer read! You won’t be disappointed! This book has so much potential, but it is so hard to get through. There are to many character POVs and it makes it hard to get any type of character development. It’s following two different love stories and changing between 3-4 characters.

Miles was standing a few yards off, shaking hands with the pastor who then nodded and turned to hurry through the rain to his car.
We were now officially alone.
Miles hesitated; his gaze focused on something in front of him. But then, as if he could feel my gaze, he turned.
I knew I should look away. Facing Miles—facing Harmony Island—was the last thing I wanted to do. But I couldn’t drop my gaze. The familiarity in his stormy blue eyes as they peered into my soul paralyzed me. I could see that he was fighting his response, and the truth was, I didn’t want to hear it. It was easier when I didn’t think anyone cared. Half way through the book I was still confused as to who the main love interest was and it was unclear if Shelbly found him to be her ex-stepbrother or a potential romance partner. In every book, Anne-Marie strives to bring you swoon worthy romance that curls your toes while keeping things sweet and clean. That means no on screen sex, violence, or language. I think there was something familiar about the plot and writing but none the less I was sold on most of the story. This story is told through 4 different points of view. Shelby, Miles, Abigail, and Bash. It's a story of romance and friendships between women. If you liked the Netflix show, Sweet Magnolias, you'll love this series!

I glanced down at the dark oak coffin in the ground, wondering for a moment if Gran would have been disappointed with what we’d chosen. Even though it had been years since we’d spoken, I still wanted to please her. To settle her into her final resting place in comfort. It's frustrating. I want to know how couple #1's story plays out, but I don't know if I want to delve deeper into the others, at least not yet. It's a good enough ploy to get readers to continue the series unless they really hated this one. Love this story so much it is beautiful written!" --Reviewer It's the moment that Harmony Island has been waiting for: the reading of Charlotte Cane's will.

It’s a BIG no for me. I bought this book because of TikTok - do I need to say more? I REGRET IT! It was supposed to be a story about a girl that has a crush on the single dad next door. But what nobody tells you is that they are “ex”-step siblings (parents divorced). That’s the first ich about this book. Then there is the alternating POV that switches between Shelby (MC), Miles (single dad) and Abigail (supposedly new bff of MC) almost every chapter. I was hella confused and couldn’t follow along for the first third to first half of the book. Later I found out it wasn’t a stand alone, as I had thought, bist just part 1 of a series. None of them speak their mind, yet they all want the others to do so. The constant tension between the various couples got annoying! And, for the longest time (90% of the book), the story felt like it went... nowhere. Then, just as we edged toward some resolution, it ended on a cliffhanger. Why? She spends her days dreaming up heroes and romantic situations while trying to keep sane with all of the sports runs and grocery trips she has to make. She loves classic movies and thinks that there is a FRIENDS quote for every situation. This garage. My wights. It was my connection to the man inside of me. (His response to the way he dresses his own daughter - in pink)

After ruffling his gelled hair, he began to unbutton his cuffs and roll up his sleeves. “She never wanted you to stay away, but she understood why you left.”
His words were like poison to my soul. It was easier to believe that my grandmother hated me than to think she’d spent her life waiting for me to return. Ahhhh I hate cliffhangers and now we have to wait a year for the second book to drop. It was a good storyline, I did find it a bit slow in parts and we didn’t really get an insight to the characters past.I know what you mean.” Miles slipped off his suit coat, folded it in half, and rested it on the chair behind him. Then he yanked at his tie and loosened the top two buttons of his white shirt. She also made it seem like there was going to be this huge connection between Shelby and Belle, when she literally only babysat her like once, yet in the middle of the book she's saying she loves her more than anything and will do anything for her after knowing her for mere days. Don’t even get me started on the nonverbal three year old who only eats cheerios, plays with toys, and takes four naps a day, never needing or interrupting adults. Shelby's choices and her internal struggles made me need to keep reading. I had hope that she would come to terms with what happened in her past, and she'd forgive the man who held so much love for her. Now, I'm not so sure. Especially when his love for his daughter is contagious, or the way he looks at me when he doesn't know I see him. I'm so confused and I want to run away like I did in the past, but I can't. And when Miles touches me like that...I don't want to.
