Large antibacterial and spill-proof tank or permanent drainage operation; antibacterial coating stops the mould growth in the tank

The Electriq CD10L performs adequately at room temperature, but it can't match the best 10 litre dehumidifiers for water removal. When the temperature drops it really starts to struggle though - even more than the average refrigerant. Extraction Rate - The dehumidifier extracts water at a rate of 12 litres per day. This rate is sufficient to inhibit mould, spore and bacteria growth, as well as preventing condensation and damp. It filters up to 135 cubic metres of air per hour. Condensation seems to collect on the cooler surface in my home, i.e. Windows, Exterior Walls and behind furniture, this always makes the interior walls damp to the touch, which then will turn into dreaded mould. If you don't have too large of a damp problem, or only have a small area where you want to reduce humidity, then a cheap dehumidifier can be worth it. One complaint we have about this model is the 5 litre water tank. While this is bigger than most tanks, we would have liked a 6 litre tank considering the high maximum extraction rate. It's also not cheap, so there are probably better options if you don't need the "Smart" features.

The main downside of a low cost dehumidifier is that the low price tag reflects a low extraction rate, which means they don't have the power to remove that much moisture from the air. There is nothing worse than your dehumidifier breaking down just after the Manufacturer's warranty has expired. Here at Buy It Direct Ltd we want you to get the most out of your dehumidifier, which is why we offer a5 Year Warranty plan. Let's start with the basics though. It's a refrigerant (compressor) dehumidifier with a built-in humidistat, digital display and a 24 hour timer. Weighing 9.5kg, it's considerably lighter than the 20L version, and also much smaller. The plain white design isn't going to win any awards for innovation, but it's clean and simple to use. Noise levels: This is where the Silentnight 39899 really comes into its own. When switched on, its operating noise levels are just 25dBA, and when I say it’s whisper quiet, I mean it. I couldn't hear this dehumidifier whilst it was running at all. That makes it perfect for anywhere you want to maintain peace and quiet, and thanks to its green light, I thought it made the perfect addition to a kids bedroom, doubling up as a nightlight when its running. Filter - The unit has an active carbon filter with space for an HEPA filter to catch dust, pollen, allergens, etc.

One of the main features of this device is the inclusion of a large 2.5-litre water tank that collects the condensed water. The unit includes a hosepipe to connect to a drainage system, allowing you to never have to empty the water tank. If this is not possible, there is the water tank option. This large capacity water tank ensures you have to empty it less frequently. Additionally, this reservoir has antibacterial properties, which prevent pathogen build-up. Automatic defrost Special laundry mode: dries laundry more efficiently than a tumble dryer, takes less space and is kinder to clothes Another amazing feature is the presence of a timer that ensures you are totally in control of your dehumidifier. This 24-hour timer helps you control the speed of the fan whenever you want. With it, you can even set when the dehumidifier will turn on or off. Active carbon filters Electriq dehumidifiers often go under the radar compared to the "big three" manufacturers ( Ebac, E coAir and Meaco) - but they are starting to grow in popularity. Noise levels This dehumidifier uses a Peltier condenser that means there's no noisy compressor to disturb you, however, that doesn't make the ProBreeze 1500ml Mini dehumidifier totally silent, there's still the noise of the fan to adjust to. I left it running in my bedroom overnight, and although the 40dBA noise is noticable and initially bothered me, I soon zoned it out. Plus, there’s no varying fan speed which means its white noise is easier to ignore.

Noise levels: Sadly noise levels are what lets this mini dehumidifier down. The brand measures them as 39dB, the loudest of all the low cost dehumidifiers in our round-up. And, for such a small unit, it does make a lot of noise. I found I couldn’t leave it on overnight because it irritated me, which is a shame as its light feature means it would otherwise have proved itself a good nightlight. Low Energy - When compared to standard dehumidifiers, the electriQ 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier uses up to 40% less energy. This is thanks to its compressor which runs on 180W only. It's not the most powerful dehumidifier on the market - you wouldn't expect it to be with the low energy consumption. But it can do a decent job at removing water, especially at room temperature or above.
