In Series 3, Elvis was shown to have a crush on visiting firefighter Penny Morris. From Series 4 onwards, his crush on Penny is gone. Elvis is named after the singer Elvis Presley, whom he idolised as a child and even styled his hair upon.

In Fireman Sam Season 10 Jupiter has four noticeable upgrades: the new fire service logos painted on, a new strobe light pattern, the same touch screen system as the Map-screen 700 fixed into the cab and a new interior.Arnold is a computer whizz and the team’s tech person. He loves technology and only has to look at a new piece of equipment to know what components it has and how he could improve it. Arnold is determined to get all the best tech-gear for the Pontypandy Fire Service and is sure that if there’s anything they can’t get hold of, he will be able to make it himself. In 2009, Fireman Sam appeared with other animated children's TV characters in a Children in Need single. The single was put together by Peter Kay. Jupiter is the main fire engine of the Pontypandy Fire Station, driven to emergencies mostly by Fireman Sam, though the other firefighters have driven it as well. In the Series 8 episode To Outfox a Fox, Elvis earns his advanced driving certificate and is now able to legally drive any vehicle belonging to the rescue service.

Penny and Station Officer Steele are the only Pontypandy firefighters who have yet to drive Jupiter in a Fireman Sam movie. Venus was an Emergency Rescue Tender, which had equipment for Road Traffic Accidents and domestic floodings, but no firefighting capabilities. Ironically, this episode was foreshadowed by Norman in the previous series, making this the first episode to be hinted out from an earlier episode.
