Because of the (quite unexpected, to be honest) positive reactions I got on my previous cosplay project blog blog/20041 , I decided to also make a blog about my Chi-Chi costume project! I started with making this costume for fun, but I was lured into signing up for a cosplay competition with it, so I also had a though deadline where I couldn't remake every part that I wanted from it!

Instead of following rules, I'm more the type to test out and adjust parts while I'm making them (only when I know what I'm doing, with the helmet above I used a tutorial).

I got both positive and negative reactions on my color choice, but I think it looks very 80's, so I like it! Considering the quite special sized and detailed gloves Chi-Chi has, this was no option this time and I had to make them fully myself. I got a lot of questions from people asking how I the shoulderplates stay in place because there is nothing it attaches to. To be honest, I couldn't really point out in the design what these were, so I ended up just making small covers to have the effect.

In Chi-Chi's character design most of her hair pieces are quite "square" and I decided I wanted to literally recreate this effect. How long the drying process takes depends on the weather, but on a general (quite cold) day in the Netherlands this can take a full day. Sorry for this incredibly long post, I hope you guys liked it and I hope to also see you at my next blog! But on the other hand, my boyfriend was laughing like crazy too because of how in-character Roshi was, so we had lots of fun!I’ve considered writing up a glove tutorial eventually since I wanted to toss one together for Sora’s (since a tutorial for that is non-existent) XD I’ve come across a few here and there. It's perfect for working on cosplay, because I know that everything I make on the mannequin will fit me too! Even though it's a very important part when making a costume and something you can't escape if you want to make helmets/armor/props. She looked incredibly cute, was very though, but became all girly and fiddly when her crush was around!

View spoiler Hide spoiler Sorry for the blurry picture of the shoulderplates, but with work-in-progress if my pictures turn out bad, I can never re-make them because I'm already at the next step! I always start out with a paper prototype and if that prototype works out well, I make patterns from them.

The Chichi Dragon Ball Z Cosplay is perfect for all young girls who don't let themselves be walked on. The necklace is worn at the part where it bodysuit changes to my real body and it (hopefully) helps to make everything look more natural. View spoiler Hide spoiler Not related to this costume, but the bat you see on the left was a work in progress for our Miria and Isaac baseball costumes: www. In some of the newer games and media young Chi-Chi's design has more blue-ish green, so I got quite some comments why I didn't go for that color version, but I think this bold green is a lot better.

D I always like to make overviews/stories like this as it's also a good diary and memory for myself about such a huge project. Inbetween my pre-judging in the morning and the afternoon where I had to be on stage I had a photoshoot with RE:PLICA / MikoBura, who also has an account here: bura She is also a cosplayer and a huge Dragon Ball fan. I remember struggling so much with it, while it's actually a joke compared to a lot of other costumes I've made. I did a lot of test rounds at home and was wearing the costume since 6AM that morning without any problems and when it was almost time for me to get on stage (around 3PM) parts started to malfunction, so I got quite stressed thinking "what if something breaks or falls off on stage? I like with Lilith how she comes over as very sexy, but is still quite clothed (she only has bare shoulders).Considering the size of these boots, I decided to grab my favorite pair of sneakers and make a pattern around it for her boots. Even though the cape and top are seperate parts, I decided that construction-wise it was better to cheat and put them together. In general I don't make much pictures of that process, as it's incredibly boring to do and to watch people do! The first version of the wings were functioning enough, but not that great, so I hope to improve them soon.
