I like that we see the beginning, how it started. Usually with dystopias the book starts and the dystopia is well in place and we never really get to know how it happened or evolved to that. But in this book, you feel the transition, the panic that the main character goes through when she understands her new reality. I liked that. – Readers review I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us,” Franz Kafka once wrote. “If the book we’re reading doesn’t wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for?” Jason wrote: "My favorite extreme horror novel is SURVIVOR by JF Gonzalez. I also really like Teratologist by Ed lee, Poisoning Eros by White/O'Rourke, and Succulent Prey by White. The book starts off with a bang and ends with one too. I was immediately drawn into the story, and ended up finishing it in just one sitting! I got strong 'Final Girls' vibes, which was another book (written by Riley Sager) that I just adored, so that made me even more excited to see how this one would end and compare it to Final Girls. I had a lot of theories from really early on as to what happened that Halloween night, but I wasn't able to correctly piece everything together, which I loved. The ending took me by surprise until it was hitting me in the face, and I thought it was perfect! The emotional build up to the last chapter is incredible. I was on the metro when I finished it. I had to get off a stop early to go throw up, not because of gore but just how horrible it made me feel.” – Readers Quote

Either way, I definitely think this book is worth the read, and I for sure want to read other books from this author. A groundbreaking book showing the link between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and adult illnesses such as heart disease, autoimmune disease, and cancer—Childhood Disrupted also explains how to cope with these emotional traumas and even heal from them. After she reconnects with someone from her past, Chelsea starts receiving threatening notes, and constantly feels like someone is watching her. She thinks she sees Ethan at random places, and she grows more paranoid that she's in danger... Right so i love really gory and bloody books and some of the recommendations down below say some are 'twisted' i'm guessing 'twisted' is dark and i'm not that old so should i just go or 'horror' not 'extreme horror' books? Oh what a creepy read this is. It fits in very well for this time of year. I liked that the story was fast paced but it did not skip on any attention to detail while doing so. There's plenty of twists to keep your attention but the author saved the best twist till the end, and I certainly did not see that coming. This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be looking out for more from her in the future. This groundbreaking book connects the dots between early life trauma and the physical and mental suffering so many live with as adults. Nakazawa fully engages us with fascinating, clearly written science and moving stories from her own and others’ stuggles with life-changing illness. Childhood Disrupted offers a blend of fresh insight into the impact of trauma and invaluable guidance in turning toward healing!”

F*** that book, I don’t want to talk about it. I’m going to go drown in my tears now, just for considering it. – Readers quote Disturbed focuses on the life of Chelsea, the only living survivor from a double murder on Halloween night. Her two college roommates were stabbed to death in their apartment, but Chelsea made it out alive and is now trying to cope with her life after the traumatic event. There's so many ways this story could have gone, I slowly started to put the pieces together. At about 60% into the book I was certain where it was headed, and I was correct. Though I must admit, briefly I started to change my mind. I thought maybe the story was headed in a different direction, but soon realized that's what Jennifer Jaynes wants the reader to think. Well played Jennifer, well played. Even though I had predicted where it was headed, I was not at all disappointed with how it played out. This is a great psychological thriller! Well-Being, Self-Care, and ACEs, as part of ACEs Connection 2017 Parenting With ACEs Fall Chat SeriesWhy, why, for the love of God, does a man always have to pop into a woman's life to give it meaning??? A girl is taking a trip with her boyfriend to meet his parents and is thinking about ending their relationship. You’re terrified the whole time you’re reading it. You’re not even sure why you are so uneasy. Everything is NOT as it seems, and the end hits you HARD. I always recommend this book with a strong warning — you have to like thrillers/horror — but I can never say much more about it because it’s so easy to spoil."
